August 13 1999 --Leading FIB manufacturer, Micrion Corporation, has merged with FEI Company (consisting of the
previously merged Phillips Electron Optics Division and FEI). The new FEI Company will merge all
three manufacturers' product lines. Fibics' state-of-the-art instruments continue to be supported and sold
under the new FEI Company.
July 15 1999 -- Fibics makes the purchase of a new parallel lapping tool. It's primary use will be for failure analysis in
integrated circuits and for laying down probe pads at the appropriate metal layer, though it can be used for other materials
science applications. The purchase of this tool makes Fibics better equipped to serve it's semiconductor clients.
June 28 1999 -- Still located on the the campus of the Canadian government's Materials Technology Laboratory, Fibics
moves into a new 1,300 square foot build-to-suit facility. Now situated on the second floor of 556 Booth Street, this space
accommodates our offices, both FIB systems and our new sample preparation lab.
May 14 1999 -- Fibics purchases a second Micrion 2500 Focused Ion Beam Microscope system. With this additional FIB
system, Fibics will continue to provide our clients with fast turnaround times while maintaining our commitment to research
and development.
April 3rd, 1998 - Fibics is pleased to announce our purchase and installation of a B&G International Model 250 Decapsulator.
With the capability of decapsulation using nitric or sulphuric acids, and special accessories to decapsulate PBGA packages,
the Model 250 is the state-of-the-art in decapsulation.
